Toptable UK app with OpenTable support comes to Windows Phone 8
2013 is looking increasingly as the year when Windows Phone’s “app problem” will be largely seen as solved.
Another essential app has just come to the platform – TopTable, part of the Opentable network for booking restaurant seats in the UK.
The new Windows Phone 8 app is designed to help diners discover the perfect table and make an instantly confirmed booking. The app lets one flick through Foodspotting photos of popular dishes, view optimised online menus and read reviews from other toptable diners. A swipe from the home page displays real-time availability at nearby restaurants and recently viewed destinations.
“Mobile now accounts for a significant part of our business and is a major area of emphasis for our developers,” said Mike Xenakis, Managing Director, OpenTable International. “The new toptable app for Windows Phone 8 makes finding and booking a restaurant on the go incredibly quick and easy. The Windows Phone 8 layout allowed for a beautiful, content-rich design to easily navigate thousands of bookable restaurants on toptable.”
To make a restaurant booking through the toptable app, choose a date, time and party size to see available tables. Search results display in list view or on a map and can be filtered by area, cuisine, price or special offers. Select a table by tapping the available time. The confirmed booking can then be added to the diner’s calendar or pinned to the start screen. toptable members may view upcoming reservations and saved favourites with a quick swipe from the home page.
Mobile bookings now account for 25 percent of toptable diners seated in the UK, up from 20 percent in the fourth quarter of 2012. The toptable app for Windows Phone 8 is the newest addition to the company’s growing suite of mobile products including apps for iOS, Google Play and a mobile optimised site that allow diners to make free restaurant bookings at over 4,000 top restaurants in the UK from a smartphone or tablet.
The Windows Phone 8-only app is free and can be found in the Windows Phone Store here.
