Lenovo Is Not Making ThinkPad Smartphone: Big Announcements To Be Made AT IFA Berlin 2013
Back in 2004, Lenovo made history with the acquisition of IBM’s PC division. It was not an ordinary deal for the Chinese PC maker at that time. As during those days, the company had a negligible presence in the International market. Consequently, Lenovo spent $1.25 billion to get IBM’s entire PC catalog including R&D and manufacture facilities. That said, it was a signal in itself that Chinese firms are looking at western markets. ThinkPad, a brand popular among corporate executives was also a part of deal. Now Lenovo design and manufacture ThinkPad notebooks. Lenovo also follows legendary design used by IBM originally. No one can ignore black colored carbon fiber chassis, red colored TrackPoint, and the ThinkLight. Since past few months there is a rumor on the web in regards to ThinkPad smartphone. Back in April, Chinese site Sina Tech reported that Lenovo might be planning a smartphone with ThinkPad logo ducked outside. The word came from Dilip Bhatia, VP and General Manager of ThinkPad Business unit, a senior executive at Lenovo. Since that day, the tech world is reporting something or other related to so-called ThinkPad smartphone. No one actually came up with internal specifications nor talked about the design part.
